On July 9th, the Mount Vernon Rotary Club recognized Dori Weir as its Rotarian of the Year during the club’s awards celebration held at Tag’s in Mount Vernon, Texas. The award honors a member whose dedication, service, and leadership have made a lasting impact on the club and in the community.

In presenting the award, club member Jill Richmond shared the following remarks, highlighting Dori’s remarkable first year of service:

“Joining our club in March 2025, [Dori] immediately became someone you could always count on. Whether it was stepping in during Tour de Cypress, serving with the Tuesday Backpack program, interviewing RYLA candidates, making pancake batter for CountryFest, serving on the Gala Committee, recommending an auctioneer who generously donated his services at cost, selling the most Gala lottery tickets, or helping her table purchase an impressive number of auction items, [Dori] never hesitated to say ‘I’ll help.’

Although she has been a Rotarian for only a little over a year, [Dori's] commitment, enthusiasm, and servant’s heart have already left a lasting impression on our club.

And behind every great Rotarian is often a great partner. For 39 years, [Dori's] husband Michael has been by her side, encouraging and supporting each of her many service projects.

Our Rotarian of the Year exemplifies Rotary’s motto of Service Above Self. [Dori] has a heart for serving others, a gift for bringing people together, and a tireless commitment to making both our club and our community stronger.”

The Mount Vernon Rotary Club extends its congratulations to Dori Weir on this well-deserved recognition and thanks her for the many ways she continues to serve the community.
