The Franklin County Historical Association continues to preserve the stories that give our community its character, and in the latest issue of Echoes, local historian B.F. Hicks takes readers on an absorbing journey through Mount Vernon’s past. His article, “Haints & Haunts,” explores the legends, ghost stories, and historical moments tied to some of Franklin County’s most familiar places—from old homes and cemeteries to long-remembered local tales. It’s an enthralling reminder that our history isn’t only found in records and dates, but also in the stories communities pass from generation to generation. For more, read his article on page 18 in Echoes, available on the FCHA website.
