Congratulations to the MVHS UIL Film Team, under the direction of Mr. Armando Silvas, for qualifying for the UIL State Film Festival for the second year in a row! This is a tremendous achievement, especially as two MVHS documentaries were selected as two of only six films statewide to advance in the documentary category. The films advancing to State are "Derek Wayne Johnson: Life of a Filmmaker", directed by Alexis Minter, and "Brad Maule: Every Role I’ve Played", directed by Vernon Pennington. Both films stood out among strong competition and reflect the talent, dedication, and hard work of our students. The UIL State Film Competition will be held on February 25th at the Austin ISD Performing Arts Center, beginning at 1pm. The qualifying films can be viewed on the school’s YouTube channel using the link below. We are proud of our filmmakers and wish them the best of luck at State! https://www.youtube.com/@mountvernonisdchannel2089
