
Eight members of the Mount Vernon High School Tiger Varsity Baseball team were honored by coaches across the University Interscholastic League District 12AAA with All-District recognition. In addition, four were named to the Academic All-District team.

Ryder Bowers, #6, earned a superlative post as Offensive Player of the Year as well as Academic All-District.



Earning First Team All-District selection were: senior, Pierson Clayton, #2, as First Team Catcher and Academic All-District; senior, Wesley Salinas, #8, First Team Outfielder; senior, Landry Moss, #13, First Team First Base and Academic All-District; and sophomore, Jackson Gray, #4, First Team Pitcher.
Second Team All-District selections were: senior, C. J. Clayton, Second Team Third Baseman; freshman, Gunner Raley, #10, Second Team Outfielder; and junior, Brycen Fountain, #7, Second Team Second Baseman. Senior, Caden Johnson, #12, earned recognition on the Academic All-District Team.
Bowers led the team in batting with an average of .500 and a .592 on-base percentage in 60 at-bats for the season. He had an earned run average of .44 having scored 25 runs with 30 hits and bringing in 18 other runs for the team. He signed a contract to play for the Northeast Texas Community College Eagles this next season in a ceremony on May 12.
Three other Tigers held batting averages of 355 and over, including Cyle Clayton at .355 and OBP .455, Jackson Gray with .359 and OBP .417, and Landry Moss with .361 and OBP .488.
The Tigers had seven home runs for the season, two each from Moss and Raley, and one each from P. Clayton, C. Clayton, and Salinas.
The Tigers finished second in 3A Region II District 12 with a 9-3 record in district play and 16-11-1 for the season.
