Asay, Baze earn grand, reserve honors for goats

Anna Kate Asay raised the Grand Champion, and Colbi Baze raised the Reserve Champion in the Goat Division of the 2026 Mount Vernon / Saltillo Young Farmers Project Show.

Asay is a member of the Mount Vernon High School FFA. Her Grand Champion Goat brought $2,400 from buyer Conroy Tractor.

Baze is a member of the Franklin County 4H Chapter. His Reserve Champion Goat brought $2,000 at auction from purchaser Legacy Ag Credit.

Goat Best Set of records was kept by Emma Womack. She also won the Goat Junior Showmanship Award. Womack is a member of the Saltillo Junior FFA.

The Senior Showmanship Award in the Goat Division was earned by Kinley McCoy. McCoy is a member of the Saltillo High School FFA Chapter.

The names of those exhibiting in the Goat Division of the 2026 Mount Vernon / Saltillo Young Farmers Project Show not previously mentioned are listed in no particular order: Spencer Gentry, Caden Decker, Luas Womack, Kylee Davila, and Maximus Tan.

The Goat Division is seasoned, yet it is the newest addition to the Mount Vernon / Saltillo Young Farmers Project Show, having been introduced about six years ago. It continues to be a fun segment to watch on the show.
