Tuesday, September 22, 2026, MVNow attended the Franklin County Water District (FCWD) Board Meeting. At this meeting, the board allowed an open discussion about the current status of the Lake Cypress Springs Dam Rehabilitation Project.
This discussion was informative, with history dating back over two decades to when the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) identified downstream slope issues, including erosion, steep slopes, sides, and seepage. While the debt-service tax impact may be as recent as last month, the simple fact remains that the current rehabilitation is a familiar project and represents the latest stage of a dam-safety obligation extending over twenty-two years to protect one of our most valuable assets, water.
