If you were among the many people who ventured out to Little Creek Park for the Spring Into Downtown celebration, you likely experienced a day filled with sunshine, community spirit, and the joyful energy that makes Mount Vernon so special. The weather could not have been more perfect, with bright blue skies, a gentle spring breeze, and occasional cloud cover offering a pleasant break from the warm sun.

Throughout the park, the sounds of music from the ballpark blended with the sight of kites flying high overhead and the cheerful splashes from the splash pad. Laughter and friendly conversations filled the air, creating a welcoming atmosphere and reminding everyone why Little Creek Park is such a cherished gathering place in Mount Vernon.

MVNow was proud to be part of the festivities, arriving early in the morning to set up our booth and share our mission with the community. The MVNow board worked together to create a polished and inviting display, complete with newly branded merchandise that highlighted our growing presence at mvnow.org. It was exciting to see our vision come to life and to know we are well prepared for future community events.
Visitors to the MVNow tent were warmly greeted by board members Kitty and Lillie, who helped set the tone for the day by encouraging attendees to subscribe to the MVNow newsletter. Throughout the event, many friendly faces stopped by to learn more about Mount Vernon’s new digital newspaper and to join our growing community of readers.

As a special thank-you, everyone who subscribed, both at the event and online before 4 p.m. that day, was automatically entered into a drawing for one of our MVNow swag baskets. We are delighted to congratulate Glenn and Betty Zachary on their win. A special thank-you goes to Frankie and Ken for personally delivering the basket, adding a thoughtful touch to an already memorable day.
The event marked another exciting milestone for MVNow, bringing us to approximately one-sixth of the way toward our ultimate subscriber goal. We encourage all of our readers to continue sharing the stories and good news they discover on our website so that more neighbors can learn about and engage with mvnow.org.
MVNow is also always looking for citizen journalists. If you know a talented writer, or simply someone with a passion for sharing local stories, we would love to connect with them. Community is at the heart of everything we do, and each new citizen journalist helps strengthen the tapestry of stories that define Mount Vernon.
If you missed us at Saturday’s event, we look forward to seeing you at the next community gathering. Until then, thank you for your continued support as we work together to inform, connect, and celebrate the people and stories of Mount Vernon.
