Mount Vernon High School’s graduation ceremony is set for 8 p.m. Friday, May 27, at Tiger Stadium. Gates open to the public at 6:30 p.m. Graduates are asked to report to the turf room at the field house no later than 6:30 p.m.

In recent years, graduates have entered the field from both sides of the stadium. Family members are advised to check with their graduate to confirm which side they will be on. This will be finalized during practice earlier that day.
Families and friends will be welcome onto the field after the ceremony to join their graduates. Only official photographers cleared by the school will be allowed on the field during the event. Those with disabilities requiring special seating or assistance are asked to contact the school by the close of business on Wednesday, May 27, to inform the school of their needs.

Meanwhile, senior students were and continue to be in demand for daily activities during “Senior Week” (May 20-28). The Powder Puff Football game between junior and senior girls, with the boys as coaches and cheerleaders, kicked off the fun week the evening of May 20 at Don Meredith Stadium. The Memorial Day weekend is giving participants an opportunity to recover from the event.
The senior class will wear their graduation caps and gowns for an inspirational walk through the halls at Mount Vernon Elementary School at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 26. A fun-filled Field Day with games and races will follow at Meredith Stadium and the practice field from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Lunch is being provided by “A Wicked Love for Food,” a local catering and food truck business.
The Cove on Lake Cypress Springs will host the senior class from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 27. They will be engaged in volleyball and cornhole tournaments, be served lunch, and receive prizes.
Senior parents are on board for the 8 a.m. breakfast on Thursday, May 28. The meal will be followed by mandatory practice for the graduation ceremony. The day will conclude with the presentation of the Senior Slide Show at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church’s Family Life Center. A free dinner for seniors will be provided by “Fat Britches BBQ,” a local catering and special events business.
Details of graduation night have been verified, and a fun-filled week of activities makes the commencement ceremony's culmination more memorable for the 2026 high school seniors of the Mount Vernon Independent School District.
