That’s exactly what Tri-Lakes Pregnancy Center has done! And the result?
Diamond Rio is coming to town! It’s just around the corner - Friday, September 25th - a fun-packed fundraiser for this non-profit service provider in our community.
Diamond Rio is best known for hits like Meet in the Middle, Beautiful Mess, Norma Jean Riley, One More Day, and many others.
At 6:00 p.m., start tapping your foot to warm-up bands Scattered Roots and Hayden McBride. At approximately 8:15, Diamond Rio will take the stage. The setting will be on the soccer field of the Franklin County Sports Complex. So bring your quilt or chair. Food and drink trucks will add to the festivities.
The idea for a pasture party came from another pregnancy health organization, Hanna House, in the Tyler/Longview area. “So come with your Bible Fellowship Class, your family, your friends and have a great time,” says Gabby Mitchell, Executive Director of TLPC. She adds, “Diamond Rio asked lots of questions before they committed to come to Mt. Vernon. So we are so glad to have them here!”
According to Kristy Williamson, Nurse Manager for Tri-Lakes, “The purpose of the fundraiser is multi-faceted. Of course it’s for Tri-Lakes Pregnancy Center, but It’s also to host a wonderful event for our community that provides a great night of entertainment for a great cause. We hope it also increases awareness of pregnancy health and what we do in our community — and to do it in such a way that brings people together in support of Tri-Lakes Pregnancy Center.”
Here’s an amazing God-wink! Obviously, when scheduling a concert with Diamond Rio, you have to plan far in advance. After many negotiations, Diamond Rio and TLPC agreed on Friday, September 25th! Oh, but Friday night football in small-town America was a huge conflict! The school had not yet released the football schedule, but commitments had to move forward. Friday, September 25th, it would be!
Kristy Williamson stated, “We were hoping against hope that Mt. Vernon’s football bye-game weekend would be that night! Lo and behold, when the football schedule was released, September 25th was the bye-game weekend!” Gabby Mitchell says, “We expect all in Mt. Vernon who are looking for something fun to do that Friday night to come out to the concert!”
TLPC will soon be in its permanent home south of The Bountiful Place and the Franklin County Food Bank on Leftwich Street. Volunteers have done much of the construction to make this dream a reality. This quiet street will help ensure the privacy of women seeking counsel as well as medical and practical help as they sort through difficult decisions.
Until construction of their permanent home is finished, TLPC is currently operating out of offices on the second floor of First Baptist Church. TLPC aims to express unconditional love and care for each woman, regardless of her ultimate decision.
Tri-Lakes has served over 40 clients so far this year and totaled over 200 routine appointments, pregnancy tests, ultrasound services, follow-ups, and resource visits.
Executive Director Gabrielle Mitchell keeps her focus on the goal: Tri-Lakes Pregnancy Center exists to support women and families facing an unplanned pregnancy. We seek to build relationships through educating and empowering women to choose life for their baby. Our goal is for moms and dads to find unconditional love in a relationship with Jesus Christ and walk in freedom from any barriers they may have.
