Decker, Clark name Valedictorian and Salutatorian of MVHS grads

Caden Decker was named Valedictorian, and Callie Clark was announced as Salutatorian of the Mount Vernon High School graduating class for 2026. The two will be featured speakers at the traditional commencement address, which starts at 8 p.m. Friday, May 27, at Don Meredith Stadium.

Decker earned the Valedictorian top honor with a 4.78 Grade Point Average (GPA) over the course of his high school studies. He is the son of Adam and Tracie Decker. He will continue his studies at East Texas A&M University in Commerce and plans to major in electrical engineering.

Clark earned the Salutatorian position with a 4.70 GPA. She is the daughter of Charles and Heather Clark. She plans to continue her studies at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.

Cade George holds the third-highest GPA in the 2026 class with a 4.65. He is the son of Clayton and Angie George. He will continue his studies at East Texas A&M University in Commerce.

Monika Self is the fourth-ranked student in the class with a GPA of 4.58. She is the daughter of Nicholaus Self, Michael, and Tiffany Young. She will attend Texas A&M University – Galveston.

Wyat Folk, the fifth-ranked student in the graduating class, holds a GPA of 4.50. He is the son of Timothy and Kasey Folk. He plans to continue his studies at the University of Texas at Tyler.

Grayson Hamonds, the sixth-ranked graduate, earned a 4.49 GPA. He is the son of Michael and Carolyn Hammonds. He will continue his studies at the University of Texas at Tyler.

Mariana Cardenas earned a 4.44 GPA and is ranked seventh in the 2026 graduating class. She is the daughter of Juan Cardenas and Yolanda Domine. She plans to study at the University of the Nations.

Alexa Copeland, the eighth-ranked graduate, holds a 4.43 GPA. She is the daughter of Matt Copeland and Suzane Stuhr. Her post-secondary studies will be at Baylor University.

Dylan Bolton is ranked ninth in the senior class with a 4.42 GPA. He is the son of William and Kenlea Bolton. He will attend Texas Tech University.

Liv Scot is the tenth-ranked graduate of the 2026 MVHS class with a 4.40 GPA. She is the daughter of Jay and Kristin Scott and will continue her studies at Auburn University.

A narrow 0.38 points separates the top and 10th-ranked students in the 2026 Mount Vernon High School graduating class. These students and others among the graduating students have pressed to study the more difficult courses offered by MVISD. Several have taken dual credit courses and have already earned certifications in various fields, preparing them to enter the workforce or gain practical experience in their chosen field of study. Congratulations to all the members of the MVHS class of 2026.
