We have had a contractor come in and clear the dam so we can continue to evaluate and proceed on action items yet to be addresses from our audit by TCEQ. I have reached out to KSA again on our EAP for the dam and they are working to finalize and sent it to TCEQ. This update will need to be adopted by the City and signed after approval by TCEQ. I had Denali show up Thursday afternoon and got started on cleaning out the storage lagoons which will be done this weekend. Today Bohlken Electric showed up to install the transfer switch parts again and this time we had much better success, but we had some issues with the generator. Good news is that the transfer switch is now functioning automatically and will exercise Fridays at noon again. Maintenance has been working on Hwy 37 & Hwy 67 intersection by elmwood and found a valve that was buried and has been found to be in the closed position. Work is being done to be able to flush this dead end and was tentatively scheduled for Monday. Following this work west elmwood will be flushed after to make sure any lesser quality water is evacuated from the system and normal residuals are maintained. I am working on the sludge report that is due at the end of the month which will be just updating TCEQ that we did not land apply any sludge this year and an approximate sludge load that was added to the lagoons this past year. I will work with Denali to get everything needed for next year’s report on what was hauled and applied as the reporting period is September 1 thru August 31.
The utility crew has been super busy this week. In addition to their regular duties, they installed a new waterline on FM 115 to replace a line which was installed under a home. They also repaired a water main which ran from the downtown elevated tower and a main break on Holbrook St. See the attached pictures.
The shelter has a great team right now. They need some help in getting the word out about adoptions. Please see the attached flyer.
Stacy Sears had to withdraw his name from serving as the city’s municipal judge due to increased workload with his business. So, we are looking for other candidates again. Please contact me if you have any recommendations.
Ronnie Davis was unanimously appointed to serve the remainder of Rebecca Bailey’s term on city council at a special called meeting on September 24. We welcome Ronnie to the Council and know that he will add great value to the city’s leadership team. The council approved not holding a meeting in October. After completing several meetings in August and September on the budget, we have no pressing business to address.
