Reports – I have attached the February and March Shelter reports.

Operational Improvements – City Staff and PAWS Board members are working together to make some operational improvements at the shelter. Kassidy Wesson (Main Street Director) who had a career as a Vet Tech has been particularly helpful with some recommendations. She spent a few days working with the shelter staff cleaning and organizing the shelter. PAWS Board members have made great recommendations which will aide increasing adoptions. While we view operational improvements as a continual process, here are the areas we are starting to address:

  • Increasing ACO and Shelter Management Training
  • Scheduling Adoptions Appointments
  • Scheduling Volunteer Assignments
  • Marching Volunteers, Volunteer Duties and Animals
  • Limiting APL visits to Shelter Site Only for Shelter Non-adopted Animals
  • Opening for Public Only After Daily Animal Care is Completed
  • Improving Social Media Presence for Adoptions Events and Volunteer Opportunities
  • Improve Public Communication
  • Improving Security Procedures
