Mount Vernon Independent School District recently shared an update regarding its ongoing superintendent search, outlining key milestones and next steps in the selection process. The update, submitted by Leigh Anne Ramsay, highlights the completion of the application phase and the timeline for upcoming interviews and final selection. The full update from the district is provided below for readers who would like more detailed information.

MVISD Staff and Families,

As we continue the process of selecting the next superintendent for Mt. Vernon ISD, I want to provide a brief update on where we are and what comes next.

The Board of Trustees began this work in February by developing the leadership profile and posting the position. We also gathered valuable input from staff, administrators, and community members through our engagement sessions. We appreciate everyone who took the time to share their thoughts and help shape the qualities and priorities we are seeking in our next leader.

The application window has now closed as of March 19, and we are currently preparing for the next phase of the process. The Board will meet in early April to begin reviewing applicants and identifying candidates to move forward.

Following that review, the Board will work with our search firm to narrow the pool and determine interview candidates. First round interviews are scheduled for the week of April 13, with second round interviews planned for the week of April 27.

Our goal is to name a lone finalist on April 29. State law requires a waiting period before finalizing the hire, and the Board anticipates taking official action to hire the new superintendent at the May 20 board meeting. The selected candidate is expected to begin serving Mt. Vernon ISD in June.

We are encouraged by the interest in this position and remain committed to a thoughtful, thorough process that reflects the values and expectations of our community. We will continue to provide updates as we move forward.

Thank you for your continued support of Mt. Vernon ISD.

Leigh Anne Ramsay
President
MVISD Board of Trustees
