MVHS Lady Tigers have 13 named to All-District honors

Thirteen members of the Mount Vernon High School Varsity Softball Team were included in the 2026 Texas 3A, Region II, District 11 All-District selections from coaches.

In addition to the first and second team selections, four of the girls swiped the Superlative Honors list. Catcher of the Year was senior Ashtyn Redar, Freshman of the Year was Reagan Bowers, Designated Player of the Year was junior Kelsey Barron, and Flex Player of the Year was freshman Cambree Summerlin.

First Team All-District honorees were Pitcher, senior Grayson Hammonds, Outfielder, senior Addison Norwood, Infielder, junior Bri Walker, and Utility Player, senior Amber Alford.

Second Team All-District honorees were Infielder, junior Jaida Doss, and
Outfielder, freshman Makenna Gerdes.

Receiving Honorable Mention All-District were three sophomore players: Kaylin Moss, Braylee Brown, and Cheyenne Temples.

Six team members were selected for recognition not only for their playing abilities, but also for their academic prowess as part of the Academic All-District Team. Honorees from Mount Vernon included Gracyn Hammons, Reagan Bowers, Bree Walker, Ashton Reeder, Addison Norwood, and Jada Doss.

The Lady Tigers finished the season as Bi-district Qualifiers after back-to-back losses to Bells High School. Mount Vernon finished the season 18-3-1 and was 6-6 in district play.

Pitcher Grayson Hammonds led the team in batting with a .436 average, on base with a .491 percentage, slugging with .525 percentage, and hits with 44 for the season.

Ashtyn Redar led the team in hitting doubles with 11, having batted in 21 runs, and a .976 fielding percentage.

Junior Brianne Walker had scored 19 runs and 11 stolen bases for the season.
