Meet Birdie.

Birdie is one of the sweetest girls you’ll ever meet, and she’s been waiting far too long for a family to call her own.

She came to the Mount Vernon Animal Shelter when she was just 3 months old as part of a litter of five puppies. Every one of her siblings has been adopted at least once… except Birdie. She’s now been at the shelter for over a year and has never had the chance to experience what it’s like to have a family.

Growing up in a shelter has made Birdie a little shy and unsure of the world, but underneath that timid exterior is the gentlest soul. She is as submissive as any dog can be and has never shown aggression. She just needs someone willing to be patient and show her that the world isn’t so scary.

Birdie is 100% potty trained and absolutely loves being around other dogs her size. Having a confident canine friend helps bring her out of her shell, and it’s amazing to watch her personality start to shine. Those little moments remind us of the happy, playful girl she’s meant to be.

If you’ve been thinking about adopting, please consider giving Birdie the chance she’s never had. She doesn’t need a perfect home; she just needs someone willing to believe in her. We know that once she feels safe and loved, she’ll become the loyal companion she’s always been waiting to be.

Come meet Birdie. She has spent over a year waiting for someone to choose her. We hope that someone is you.
