Twenty-two contestants will be entertaining the crowd at the Mount Vernon ISD Auditorium Saturday night as they “Dance Through the ‘80s.” The pageant will provide the final display of talent, poise, and decorum for judges to determine title winners of the seven divisions in the 58th Annual Miss Mount Vernon Scholarship Pageant.

Supporters can determine the winners in the “Ticket Sales” category, and in the event of a point tie from judges, ticket sales will determine the winner of a division. Tickets are $10 per person and are available from any of the contestants or at the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce office. Contestants must turn in their ticket sales funds the night of the mock-dress rehearsal Thursday evening, Oct. 8; so, contact your favorite contestant as soon as possible.

The older division winners are also vying for scholarship funds provided by the American Legion Post 243 in Mount Vernon. The Legion provided $5,000 in scholarships to be shared among the Miss, Junior Miss, and Talent division winners.
At CountryFest, stop by the “Cutest Dog Contest” booth on Smokey Row to meet these young ladies in person and vote for your favorite “fur baby.” Individuals can also enter their fur baby in the contest if done by Thursday for a $30 entry fee.
Funds from this Cutest Dog Contest go toward a scholarship for the student chamber volunteer(s) who contribute the most hours to various chamber events. This is the contest's third year.

Information was not available on all of the contestants at the time of publication. A list of contestants by age group will be added to this story as soon as we identify all contestants. Check back for an update.
