Hundreds of ladies donned hats and their race-day finest to test their luck at Mt. Vernon Key Club’s 4th Annual Designer Handbag Bingo last Thursday at The Glove Factory. More than $12,000 was raised to benefit Key Club’s ongoing projects, including scholarships for Mount Vernon High School seniors and the Franklin County Chapter of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

The loudest cheer of the evening came in the homestretch when Kim Screws shouted out “bingo” during the final blackout round for the coveted Louis Vuitton. Screws showed off her LV Petit Noe Bucket Bag in the winner’s circle.

The luckiest woman in the room was Brooklyn Scrofani, who not only won the Consuela XO Classic Tote but also, three rounds later, took home the Gucci Ophidia Mini Shoulder bag. Other charmed guests to enter the rose-decked winner’s circle included Jerica Hankins with the Kate Spade Rae Satchel, Teresa Stone with the Coach Hadley Crossbody Bag, Tammy Kearney with the Ralph Lauren Karly Tote, Donya Barker with the YSL-Saint Laurent Cassandra Chain Wallet, Janet White with the Longhorn Trail Genuine Cowhide Checkered Crossbody, and Kember Cunningham with the Michael Kors Nala Shoulder Bag.

President Frankie Cooper welcomed guests to the evening, inspired by the elegance and excitement of the Kentucky Derby. Guests enjoyed dinner provided by The Loading Dock and drinks served by Tag’s Hometown Bar & Grill, until the bugle call signaled the start of high-stakes bingo for one of nine designer handbags and drawings for dozens of door prizes. Key Club’s Diane Ramsay was the bingo caller for each game, which featured a different pattern. Bingo numbers were randomly selected by a computer-generated program. To bring the “Run for the Roses” ambiance to town, Taylor Wafford, Pam Greenberg, and Gay Travis decked the room with floral garlands, rose walls, winner’s cups, saddles, and ribbons. Craig Greenberg handled the sound and Derby-themed music.

Luxury Bag sponsors for the evening were Alliance Bank, Alliance Bank Financial Services, Galyean Insurance Agency, Sears Realty Group, and Wesley Partners Senior Living. Tote Sponsors included Cypress Springs Wellness & Rehabilitation and Coldwell Banker Lakehaven Realtors. Satchel Sponsors were Tag's Hometown Bar & Grill, Tom Scott Lumber Yard, and Wood County Electric. Clutch Sponsors were Franklin County Rural Health Clinic, Guaranty Bank, JT Rentals & Construction, Mount Vernon Eye Care & Eye Wear Gallery, Sam B Harvey Funeral Home, and The Texas Chophouse. Wallet sponsors included Jill Ann's Med Spa, Kinetic Physical Therapy, Rustic Plains, and Tri-City Plumbing.
