I grew up in Mount Vernon, TX. After graduating from high school I moved to Waco and attended Baylor University for 4 years, before joining the army. The army was a rich experience that included deployment to Iraq for a year and living in Washington, DC. While living in DC I realized that Texas was where I wanted to be, but it was 2009 and jobs were hard to come by for infantry soldiers. The best option I thought I had was to take advantage of the GI Bill, so I moved to Dallas and enrolled in SMU Cox School of Business to earn an MBA. While living in Dallas I met my future wife and after we got married we moved to Mt. Vernon to start a regenerative farm. Since moving back home we have continued to raise our 4 kids and animals. I am currently an accountant and part time farmer, but have worn many hats in the community including appliance repairman, banker, and full time farmer.
